Mission & Vision

Our Mission:

To Worship and Serve God in Love and Obedience

1. Worship: God calls us to WORSHIP Him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  To please God is our first priority of worship (Psalm 95)

2. Serve: God calls us to SERVE Him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We serve God as we serve others in Mission, outreach, and witness in word and action (Matthew 25: 31-46)

3. Love: God calls us to LOVE Him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  One of the primary ways we love God is by embracing Jesus' New Commandment that we love one another as He loves us (John 13:34)

4. Obey. God calls us to OBEY Him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We find the Lord's highest call to obedience in our commission to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19)

Our Vision:

St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church will Worship and Serve God in Love and Obedience through:
  • Passion for the Word of God
  • Equipping followers of Jesus Christ
  • Living in a way that draws our neighbor to the Savior
  • Commitment to mission, near and far

Core Purposes

Our Core Purposes help us understand our fundamental reasons for being. They help capture why this congregation exists and what God calls us to do. Moreover, these Core Purposes relate fully to the four key elements of our Mission Statement - Worship, Serve, Love and Obey. In this, we once again see the hand of God working by fitting His calling from the past into His vision for the future.

  • Worship
  • Evangelism and Outreach
  • Life of Community
  • Discipleship

Core Values

Our Core Values express the basic, timeless, and deeply held beliefs of this congregation, and they are reflected in the way this congregation thinks, talks, and acts.  Core Values are not ideals that we aspire to; they say who we are and they affect every decision that we make as a congregation.

  • Christ-focused
  • Scripturally Grounded
  • Prayer
  • Humility and Integrity
  • Compassion
  • Preaching
