New Members & Membership
We’re glad you’re interested in learning more about St. John and what membership entails. Please explore the many possibilities available to you through ministries, mission and learning.

Inquirer’s Seminar

Periodically we offer a class called the Inquirer’s Seminar. This interactive seminar meets between five and seven times to walk through Christian history, review the beginning of Lutheran Christianity and to get questions answered. Attendees receive a notebook covering Christian formation, Lutheran theology and history, Lutheran Confessions, the Sacraments, the Church year, and discipleship. The class concludes with the issues facing the Church in the 21st Century.

New Member Sponsors

At the conclusion of the seminar, attendees are asked to inform us of their intention to become members. Those requesting membership receive a sponsor to represent and assist the family with questions they may have about various ministries at St. John.  Your sponsor will be a special friend and a helpful resource to you in the months ahead. Feel free to contact your sponsor or any member of the staff for guidance.

The last meeting of the Inquirer’s Seminar is a casual and fun-filled time when we gather with sponsors to meet others, sign up for ministry involvement and enjoy some time together. Ministry leaders often join us to describe what it’s like to be involved in their ministries.

We receive members two ways:

  1. The Sacrament of Holy Baptism – If you have not been baptized in a Christian church, you can be received in membership through baptism.
  2. Affirmation of Faith – If you have already been baptized in a Christian church, you can be received in membership through affirmation of your Baptism at one of the worship services.
