This vibrant and engaging Women’s Ministry Council organizes quarterly events just for women to grow in grace and Christian joy! The types of events are as varied as the women of this congregation. This group revels in the joy of the Lord. Past events have included an international brunch, Holiday dinners, Beth Moore simulcasts and a retreat to the shores of Smith Mountain Lake! BIBLE/BOOK STUDIES OFFERED FOR WOMEN AND MOMS
FALL 2010
Tuesday mornings – Book Study on A Woman After God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth George. Will meet in the Prayer Chapel of St John from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday Mornings – Parenting-focused book/bible study. Will meet in the Prayer Chapel of St John from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. We will begin September 15, 2010 with Boundaries with Kids, by Cloud and Townsend.
Wednesday Evenings – Book Study. Will meet from 6-8 p.m. Times may change slightly due to possible childcare needs.
Thursdays Evenings – Book Study at 6:45 p.m. Entitled "Jonah, Navigating a
Life Interrupted." This 7-week study will begin on September 16 and will
include supper, fellowship and a DVD study session.
Friday Mornings – Book Study on Esther by Beth Moore. Will meet in the Prayer Chapel of St John
from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Moms Nurturing Moms
Moms Nurturing Moms exists to care for Moms of all ages and from all walks of life. Through Bible and book study, social gatherings, playgroups and local outreach, we hope to create a community of women who can enjoy deep, authentic relationships with God and one another.
We offer a mom-focused book study each summer, weekly play groups, fun social and topical gatherings, and are working to build teams of women who can support one another as they reach out to local mothers in need.
We are committed to providing a nurturing atmosphere that encourages mothers to be women of Christ-like character who seek to raise children of Christ-like character. We are young and we are old; we have babies and college grads; we are single and we are married.We are all one in Christ and we walk in triumphal procession together spreading the love of Christ in our homes and our community. (2 Corinthians 2:14-15.)

Beginning in September 2010, you can find Moms Nurturing Moms on:
Monday mornings – Playgroup will meet at the Church of the Holy Sprint playground located at 6011 Merriman Rd. (Rainy-weather location: Gymnasium at St John). Starting in October we will begin our Mommy N’ Me Exercises in the Gymnasium at St John.
Wednesday mornings -- Parenting-focused Bible/Book study in the Prayer Chapel at St John from
9:30 - 11:30.
The First Monday of every other month – First Monday Speaker Series, focusing on issues near and dear to our hearts. Our first gathering will be Monday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Lynne Pope. Location TBA.
September 3rd -- *A Night in Tuscany* wine tasting, fellowship and live music at the home of Ama and Allen Childress starting at 7:30 p.m. All moms are welcome!
