Small Groups

Small groups are where biblical study, prayer, encouragement and friendship are at the forefront. We'd love to have you be part of this enriching experience. Come alongside others who meet together on a regular basis for Christian study and growth. Walk along with those who are in a similar stage in life, a similar geographic area or have similar interests. There are a number of different types of groups but all have a common thread - that is to strengthen our Christian relationships and provide encouragement to one another while enriching our faith.

Groups typically have the following characteristics:
  • Consist of 4-12 members
  •  Have a trained leader, or a leader-in-training
  • Stay connected to the small group ministry team through the coaching system
  • Adopt an open chair policy to incorporate new members at times throughout the year
  • Provide a confidential and safe environment for sharing and building authentic relationships
  • Work together on mutually agreed upon goals for learning and service
  • Pray and worship together
  • Serve together when possible at church, in the community and in the world
  • Focus on God’s Word and growth in discipleship
Groups meet monthly, twice monthly or weekly. Some have child care while others don’t. Some meet primarily for study. Others meet primarily to serve and to foster friendship. There are groups for parents of young children, for empty nesters, for singles and for couples. Groups meet in homes and at the church. Most groups have between three and twelve members. Being part of a small group is a wonderful way to strengthen your commitment to Christ Jesus.

ANNOUNCING TWO STUDIES FOR WOMEN!

1. He's Alive In Roanoke (HAIR) is starting a Beth Moore study on the book of Revelation - HERE AND NOW ~THERE AND THEN - Beginning April 15, 2010, for 11 weeks, the Lord Jesus is going to reveal Himself to us as we study the book of Revelation with Beth Moore. There will be light homework - one weekly assignment. But, listen to the promise of God: "The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants? the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant? John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near." (Revelation 1:1-3 ESV)
We will meet for a light supper at 6:45 pm in the Community Room (upper-level), followed by prayer, discussion and a 1 1/2 hour DVD session by Beth. The workbook is $9.00. If you have always wanted to study Revelation, now is the time - please don't put it off any longer. For more information, contact Jane Martin at grannyjane2004@cox.net or 540-353-9609.

2. HAIR SUMMER STUDY - THE INHERITANCE - Beginning July 1, 2010 - This nine session lecture only (no homework) DVD series by Beth Moore is a topical study of Inheritance throughout God's Word. Key verse: Psalm 16:5-6 "The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance" - Cost of the class $7.00 - more to come.
