The Christian education ministries encompass many
different ministries covering all ages within our congregation.
Alpha Ministry:
Alpha is a program that's being used in over 10,000
churches worldwide. This is a study that can renew the commitment of
a lifetime Christian as well as lead an unbeliever to Christ. A
variety of gifts and talents are needed to make this ministry
successful.

Baptismal Event:
Team members assist staff with setup, light refreshments and
implementation of this educational event which occurs three times each
year.

Christian Education Ministry:

The Christian Education Ministry Team oversees much of the
Christian Education opportunities at St. John, including Sunday Church
School for adults, children and youth.

First Communion Family Event:
Members assist staff with semi-annual Saturday morning event for families
with children preparing to make their first communion the next day.
Tasks include general set-up or clean-up, light morning refreshments, help
with related crafts, etc.

Pre-Confirmation Ministry:
Pre-confirmation is for youth in grades 8-9. They meet during the
Sunday School hour and learn the basic teachings of the faith.
Confirmation Ministry:
Confirmation is for youth in 10th grade or higher.
This program teaches young people more about the teachings of the Lutheran
faith and prepares them to identify more deeply with the Christian
community and participate more fully in its mission as adult
disciples.

Congregational Advent/Christmas Program and Celebration:
The team helps with planning and implementation of our annual Christmas
event/Sunday School program.
Inquirer's Seminar:
This seminar teaches what the Lutheran church is about, what St. John
Lutheran is all about.

Vacation Bible School:
Coordinators: Select materials; recruit teachers and other
staff; implement and oversee the annual week of evening VBS, held in late
July/early August.
Teachers, area leaders, and helpers: utilizing prepared
materials, teach children ranging in age from three through junior high
age; or, lead them in age appropriate crafts or recreation time; oversee
refreshments for students and staff.

Library:
Library assistants will help with general ongoing maintenance or special projects; catalog
books; type cards for them. Several hours each week, month or only
occasionally.
Crossroads:
Crossroads is a learning program for the whole family on Wednesday
evenings.
